If it’s important do it every day, if it’s not, don’t do it at all
Start TODAY for $0
If we want to start making progress on our goals TODAY FOR $0 this is what I recommend…
30 Days (no days off)
Make the Bed
Journal 5 Minutes (pen to paper)
Move for 5 Minutes
Walk Around the Block
That’s it.
How, When, Where?
It doesn’t matter…at all how, when or where we do these things.
Obviously, there are more effective/advantageous times of day, but by in large, if any of these activities are new, we are only interested in “building the habit”, we have plenty of time to “develop effectiveness”
Why These 4 Activities?
Make the Bed
It is an act of “current us” taking care and consideration of “future us”.
When we go to bed and the bed is made, there is this subconscious feeling of being looked after.
When we make your bed we are proving to ourselves that “I matter”; no one has to see our made bed… we will, a few hours into the future, and that’s all is important
Journal for 5 Minutes
We give ourselves 5 minutes of free writing every day and see how our outlook, perspective, and mindset, all change.
We feel more organized and less scattered.
We feel more grounded and less adrift
We feel more empowered and less a victim of circumstance
Keep the pen moving, even if we are writing “I have nothing to say here” over and over and over again.
Eventually something will come to mind that completely surprises us, that’s where the magic is
We spend so much time consuming, this is our time to create
Move for 5 Minutes
Literally move your body for 5 minutes.
Here are some GREAT suggestions
Lay down on the floor and get up
Sit down to a chair and stand back up
Walk up and down a flight of stairs
Set a clock for 5 minutes, and let it run.
We aren’t talking about going as fast as humanly possible, we are looking for 5 minutes of continuous movement
Don’t worry about keeping any kind of score
Feel free to mix and match
Walk Around the Block
We get outside, feel the weather on or skin, get sunshine in our eyes, and fresh air in our lungs
We also may get to know the environment where we spend most of our lives. We see people and exchange smiles with them, and absorb the life that’s outside into our spirts for the day
So it’s really that easy?
No, it isn’t easy, that’s the point. Establishing consistency is simple tasks is tougher than we believe out of the gate.
Days 1-12 will be fairly easy, remembering why we started is important because when “life gets in the way” on days 13-20 we’ll need that feeling to help us stay the course
30 Days in a Row Feels Like A Lot! What Happens If We Fall Off “The Path”?
Give yourself a break, understand that life always gets in the way from time to time, and get back on the path
If 30 days in a row feels super overwhelming, here are some suggestions
pick 1 of the habits to start and after 30 days add 1 new habit until all 4 are incorporated
instead of 30 days in a row, give yourself a goal of 30 days total (maybe it’ll take you 35-42 days to get the 30 days complete, who cares, you did it!)
